Day one at Wimbledon saw the #17 seed, American James Blake tumble in three sets 5-7, 4-6, 6-7 (5) to Italian, Andreas Seppi. Blake had a set point in the third and lost it, then promptly coughed up a 5-0 lead in the tie-break.
On the women's side of the tournament, second seed, Serena Williams won handily (6-1, 7-5) and 24th seed Maria Sharapova beat Viktoria Kutuzova of the Ukraine in two sets, 7-5, 6-4.
